Good Practice Day: Polypharmacy
20th January, 2016
National Metalforming Centre, West Bromwich
We are delighted to announce that the topic for Keele's next 'Good Practice Day' event will be 'polypharmacy and medication review'. While we are all aware of the principles of medicines optimisation and the NICE guidance on this, the practicalities of implementation are complex. This day will outline some of the 'big picture' considerations for teams involved in medicines optimisation, while also using real-world cases to illustrate some of the tools we can use when reviewing medicines in vulnerable people with co-morbidities who take lot of medicines.
We will be joined on the day by Jamie Hayes, Magnus Hird and Martin Duerden, who will share their expertise in a series of interactive sessions. There will also be lots of opportunity for delegates to share their own experiences of doing medication reviews in complex situations.
This event will be of interest to all healthcare clinicians involved in medicines optimisation, but will be of particular value for those looking to develop or deliver clinical pharmacy services within general practice.
This is a free event for healthcare professionals associated with CCGs subscribing to the Keele Prescribing Support Service. These CCGs are Birmingham Cross City, Birmingham South Central, Dudley,Herefordshire, Sandwell and West Birmingham, Shropshire, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton.
